We recently wrote about some great tips for presenting data on slides. Here we talk a bit about another data-rich design challenge: Infographics.
Infographics are a powerful way to communicate. They not only engage the viewer and tell a story, they open up any number of exciting possibilities for cool data visualizations. But, like the proverbial author staring at a blank page, it can be hard to know where to start.
See Mei Chow over at Piktochart has put together a great primer on infograhic design to help get things off the ground and spark ides. As she says:
“Using the right layout will ensure good readability and convey your message well.”
Starting out right can also prevent you from going down a path that might limit your options later on.
It’s not a paint-by-numbers formulaic approach, but it provides some nice guardrails to help you organize your ideas. It gives designers and non-designers alike to way to get projects off the ground quickly and explore possibilities they may not have thought of.
It’s well worth a look.
